DELMARVA WORKING DOG GROUP We Put the FUN in Function! Welcome to the DELMARVA WORKING DOG GROUP website. When it comes to
working dog training on the Delmarva Peninsula, there are very few outlets for folks with this sport interest. Some
folks what the training techniques found in sport Schutzhund or PSA, but don't want the expense or traveling which is
often involved. With the continued rise in the price of gasoline, fewer folks have the "loose change" to explore
working dog outlets. For those who enjoy working dogs and working dog training, the DELMARVA
WORKING DOG GROUP may be for you! We're a small-scale club located in Harrington, Delaware. Our members enjoy talking
with new members, watching others work their dogs, and offering assistance in many ways. The thing that everyone is in agreement
on...this is FUN! See for yourself... Our Training Program The
DELMARVA WORKING DOG GROUP offers club training in the
areas of: obedience, tracking and area searching, and K-9 personal protection work. We also offer environmental conditioning
and agility, AKC-CGC classes and testing, problem-solving, and club level decoy training, and unlike the sports
of Schutzhund or PSA, we have been set up for livestock herding and instinct testing for those
dogs which have the drives or genetics for this area. Our Dogs The majority of our dogs are from the working lines: KNPV, IPO, Schutzhund, or from
police working lines and not show lines. What breeds of dogs can be found here? We have the Rottweilers, Bouvier des Flandres, Belgian Malinois,
German Shepherds, and the list keeps growing. Each breed is suited to the owner's need and family setting. You will find males
and females, young and older dogs, puppies of all ages, started to titled dogs, and slightly "wild" youngsters! Training Times
& Locations Our training is done on Sunday morning from 8:00 to
noon. Most of our training is done on a thirty-five acre farm northwest of Harrington, Delaware. When we need to
"branch out" for tracking and area searching, we use the other training sites near Easton, Maryland.
Memberships What does it take to become a member? We require that your canine partner pass a basic
temperament test (similar to the AKC-CGC), be up to date on shots, and under control. You will also be required to do a four
session course which helps us assess your skills and to see if you fit into our family-friendly group. If you're not sure
whether you and your dog can train in this venue, we'll give you a free assessment! If this were a business...the boss
which have a fit over FREE!!!
