About Us
After a few short years of trial and error, finding the things
that work and those that work better, we now offer a host of working dog training areas. We view "work" as that
K-9 effort, used to support and assist the handler, in the venue of their choosing. Some of our members, like Julie
Argo, enjoy tracking and area searching. Julie and her Bloodhound Lulu have gone on to become certified as a
"Tracking and Trailing Dog" team. They are some of the foundation material for what can come your
way with a little HARD WORK! Certified National Law Enforcement Canine Organization.
Andy Larrimore has taken his training interests back
into the Law Enforcement world. He and his Rottweiler partner Ivan have done many exciting things in just a few short years.
Many K-9 handlers use the Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, or the German Shepherd as the partner of choice. It's not
that often when a Rottweiler steps into this venue and continues to shine. Certified Patrol
and Narcotics Detection.
Working
from the sport venue is Ernie Adkins Belgium imported Malinois, Bilana
vom Böxenwolf. She has an IPO III title and is focused
in the bite work. Great things are being planned for her at the Tripple E Kennels in Salisbury, Maryland! Bilana has been
bred to a top rated, IPO III male and puppies are expected to hit the ground by early summer. Watch for more great things
from this snappy Malinois!
Then the rest of our membership falls
into the training areas of K-9 Estate and Personal Protection training. Some of our members have been involved with the K-9
sport of Schutzhund. Frustrated with the endless levels of pattern training, we've wanted a feel for a more "real
world" application. Training scenarios include air scenting with a bite reward, bite suit and bite sleeve training, elevation
bite work, multiple attacker scenarios, endless amounts of environmental training, and that never ending amount of obedience.
Using mock scenarios and real world applications helps us train for what we hope we don't see...K-9 deployment!
Lastly, it isn't easy and neither is our training. This is a HIGH
RISK area; one in which the decoy, handler, and dog can face injury. Exploring this "other end" of K-9 training
can be fast-paced and heart stopping. It is with pleasure that some of our past and current trainees be mentioned, and with
thanks for their help: Vernon Murray, Heather West, and Ernie Adkins.
