Strut That Stuff!
DWDG Training Our club training takes place on Sunday morning
at 8:00. We go over training issues, problem areas, and what we're planning for that day. Starting with either group or
individual obedience around 8:30, we then go into the protection training venue followed tracking/area searching and/or
problem-solving. For those who wish to use the K-9 agility equipment, this may be done after training and it gives you and
your dog the time needed to work on special issues in a controlled setting. You MUST be present for obedience if you're also doing protection work! For
Club Members and Visitors...K-9 Training For February 2012 February will be a busy month assessing the new puppies
and working the new dogs which we have coming out. In addition, our training location is the Upland Golf Course outside of
Denton, MD which is a few miles west on Rt 404. K-9 training and assessments are slated for the19th. Dress for the weather...remember to bring water and extra materials to keep your K-9
partner warm. In case of rain or snow, we will cancel training.
We are currently planning
the MARCH training sessions for the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas site. It is located 5 miles south of the Rt. 404/50
intersection and on Rt 50.
Interested in a DWDG Memberships? Yes, we have them! Your
dog or puppy must be UTD on shots, have a buckle style collar or harness, and a leash for these assessments. Assessments will take place later in the
morning and last just a few minutes. Please keep your animal crated or in the car until called. You're solely responsible for anything which may happen while on this
site and regardless of occurrence!

Training Sites: We are in the process of picking
up an additional training site in Denton, Maryland. These are lands which are used by one of our newest club members
and is a half way point for many of us. As with any property, please read the training release listed below!

WORKING DOG GROUP Training
Agreement and Release of Liability Form The following Training Agreement and Release of Liability form
shall be read, understood, and signed BEFORE any training may begin. NO MINORS may sign
for themselves and parents of minors MUST be in direct attendance while training is taking place.
The following policy and release is the one in which we operate and the one YOU
will be held to while training with us or as a guest. All guests will be limited to ONE WORKING CANINE
while you are here. In addition, the agreement shall be enforce regardless of site location or type of training used. Guests
of DWDG members and members shall follow all directions given to them for instructional and safety purposes, and shall assume
all liabilities for their actions, their animal, and it will be enforce regardless of occurrence. Your attendance is optional; the risks and liabilities for this attendance are being made aware to you:
- Training as a club
level helper/decoy, K-9 handler, or being around dogs is not without possible risk of injury or death to the person or the
dog.
- Due to the nature of working dog training not all handlers or dogs have the same level of control,
skill, training, or degree of safety.
- Full and total control with the use of voice commands, training
goods (leashes, collars, harnesses), or with hand/voice signals may not be 100% reliable. Equipment such as collars and leashes
can break.
- Human error and/or canine training may create a climate for accidental live bites, scratches, strains,
sprains, breaks, or damage to the person or dog.
- Each person shall be responsible for their
own welfare, their minor children, and/or their animals’ health and safety.
- Human
and canine injuries such as strains, sprains, overheating, frostbite, injury to internal organs, injury to eyes, fractures
or breaks to teeth, feet, neck, back, or arms/legs to human or animal are all possible.
- Reasonable
safeguards will be in place to help with my safety and the safety of my animal/s. Failure to follow these safeguards may increase
the risk levels or chances.
- I understand that working dogs have drives or behaviors which
are different from household pets. I agree to check with any owner/handler BEFORE petting any animal and that I do so
under my own risk.
- During any aspect of training, should you experience
any concerns with your health or the health of your dog, the trainee/guest shall inform the instructors or assigns of these
concerns.
- We ask that
you remain mindful of your voice tone and the language you use. Since this is a family style club, kids don't need to hear
the locker room talk!
- Protection training materials are not bite or injury proof!
There are possibilities of equipment failure, bruising, breaks to skin/bone or damage to other areas. It is your job
to check equipment before using it.
- I agree to release from liability: the DELMARVA WORKING DOG
GROUP, its club members or assigns, landowners, partnerships, instructors, decoys/helpers, guests, or other unnamed persons
for any loss or damage to personal property of any type, for any personal or canine injury which may occur, or for the theft
or damage to any property.
- I agree to be the sole contact should an occurrence involve
myself and/or my animal.
- I
understand that this is a binding agreement and is binding for any follow up training/classes in which I may attend.
